Galaxy number counts at second order: an independent approach

چکیده

Next generation surveys will be capable of determining cosmological parameters beyond percent level. To match this precision, theoretical descriptions should look the linear perturbations to approximate observables in large scale structure. A quantity interest is Number density galaxies detected by our instruments. This has been focus recently, and several efforts have made explain relativistic effects theoretically, thereby testing full theory. However, results at nonlinear level from previous works are disagreement. We present a new independent approach computing galaxy number counts second order perturbation derive analytical expressions for observed redshift, angular diameter distance volume spanned survey. Finally, we compare with which compute general distance-redshift relation, finding that result agreement order.

Persistent fluctuations in galaxy number counts

– Fractal properties are usually characterized by means of various statistical tools which deal with spatial average quantities. Here we focus on the determination of fluctuations around the average counts and we develop a test for the study of galaxy distribution both in redshift and magnitude space. Fluctuations in the counts of galaxies, in a fractal distribution, are of the same order of th...

Galaxy number counts and Fractal correlations

– We report the correlation analysis of various redshift surveys which shows that the available data are consistent with each other and manifest fractal correlations (with dimension D ≃ 2) up to the present observational limits (≈ 150hMpc) without any tendency towards homogenization. This result points to a new interpretation of the number counts that represents the main subject of this letter....

Submillimeter Galaxy Number Counts and Magnification by Galaxy Clusters

We present an analytical model which reproduces measured galaxy number counts from surveys in the wavelength range of 500 μm to 2 mm. The model involves a single high-redshift galaxy population with a Schechter luminosity function which has been gravitationally lensed by galaxy clusters in the mass range 10 to 10M⊙. This simple model reproduces both the low flux and the high flux end of the num...

Persistent fluctuations and scaling properties in galaxy number counts

Counts of galaxies as a function of apparent magnitude are among the most time-honored observations in cosmology. In this Letter, we focus on some statistical properties of these counts which are fundamental in order to characterize the large scale correlations in the galaxy spatial distribution. There are, in fact, no longer doubts since two decades of the existence of very large scale structu...

Galaxy Number Counts and Implications for Strong Lensing

We compare galaxy number counts in Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) fields containing moderate-redshift (0.2 < z < 1.0) strong gravitational lenses with those in two comparison samples: (1) the first square degree of the COSMOS survey, comprising 259 ACS fields and (2) 20 “pure parallel” fields randomly located on the sky. Through a Bayesian analysis we determine the expectation values (μ0) an...
